Single Mothers Housing Programs

from: Oze Parrot

There are many avenues open for the single mother to explore, in order to purchase her own home. While there may not be a lot of housing plans aimed specifically at single moms, many of the available housing packages are tailored for low income earners and therefore, ideal for a single mother. When a single mom finds herself in a position where she can afford modest house repayments, she should review all advertised housing plans and examine the bottom line, as many packages come with variable options and repayment schemes.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development provide expert counseling services, and will supply a list of state agencies that will help a prospective home buyer to make an informed decision, before purchasing a property. HUD specializes in catering for low-income earners and doesn't specifically provide housing programs for single mothers, as such. The department will give out reliable information about raising a mortgage and reputable home buying programs.

Make an application to the State Housing Finance Agency for assistance. This agency has been established specifically to assist low income earners to purchase an affordable property. The agency has access to any housing programs that may be available in your area, and are tailored for single mothers.

Habitat For Humanity, is an organization that strives to place single mothers in affordable housing. A selected family needs to be in partnership with Habitat For Humanity by performing certain tasks during the construction of the house. Habitat For Humanity only gives assistance to lower income families, although the ability to repay the loan is carefully considered before they will accept an applicant.

Before entering into an agreement to purchase a property, a single mother must spend a great deal of time searching for a housing package that is affordable, and suits her needs. The rewards for giving the matter careful consideration are many as she will not be living beyond her means, the value of your property will increase over time and the kids will have somewhere to call home. Depending on personal circumstances, there may be some tax concessions for the single mom buying her own home.
